The Road Ahead...

Well, here we are in 2011. I feel like I'm still catching up from 2010! But that's not very inspiring is it?! A theme that I am looking into this year is vision. To me this means looking ahead. Not worrying about the future, or dwelling on the past, but seeing the bigger picture. Some scriptures have come up in lessons and conversations recently that I'd like to share with you. Perhaps, it will inspire you to look at how God is a forward focused God. He is full of vision and purpose.

Isaiah 43:18-21
18 “Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
20 The wild animals honor me,
the jackals and the owls,
because I provide water in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland,
to give drink to my people, my chosen,
21 the people I formed for myself
that they may proclaim my praise.

God always has good things in store for us. He is always working, rescuing, and leading!

Genesis 19:15-17
15 With the coming of dawn, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Hurry! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away when the city is punished.”

16 When he hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the LORD was merciful to them. 17 As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!”

contiued...
23 By the time Lot reached Zoar, the sun had risen over the land. 24 Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the LORD out of the heavens. 25 Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land. 26 But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.

Why did Lot's wife look back? Was she afraid that what God had planned for her future was not as good as what she had? What did it cost her?

1 Cor 2:9-10
9 However, as it is written:

“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived—
these things God has prepared for those who love him”[a]—

10 for God has revealed them to us by his Spirit.

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

Now that's inspiring! It's so easy to forget how much vision God has for us. We drown in our circumstances, and lose touch with the hope that we have. This is what I'm praying for; I want to get a glimpse of this kind of vision. I'm getting there...

More to come...
