"For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don't use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."
It's interesting that Paul doesn't say, "use your freedom to be perfect and not sin" or "use your freedom to please people and win their approval." But is says "use your freedom to serve one another..." I don't know how often this is my focus. Having a relationship with God, gives me the freedom to love other people, rather than pleasing myself all of the time, or living a life where I feel guilty about all of my mistakes.
Imagine how our ministry would be if we all used our freedom to serve and love most of the time? It boggles the mind. This really helps me for this week. Who can I serve, and how can I love?
Use my freedom to love others and not myself. What a concept?!?
